The powder effect is applied to the body of the brow using a permanent makeup device to give the brow its fullness.

MICROBLADING HEALING PROCESS

What to Expect When Your Eyebrows are Healing  If you are familiar with the microblading process, or aftercare instructions, then you will know that you are not supposed to get your eyebrows wet AT ALL for three days after your appointment. This means that you need to avoid sweating, swimming and yes, washing your eyebrows for 24 hours. Light splashing in the shower is okay, but the goal is to not submerge your eyebrows. This helps to avoid infection and allows the pigment to sit in your skin and start to heal. Your new brows will look just as fresh as the day you got them done at this point. However, they may start to appear about 30% darker and thicker than you remembered them looking like after your appointment. This is when you freak out – just kidding. Do not call your artist, or leave them a bad review yet, this is completely normal! Fading

You might notice that when you finally wash your eyebrows with antibacterial soap that some of the pigment might “wash out” and appear patchy. Your eyebrows will start to scab, itch and fall off during days 5-8 of healing. You might see that the pigment is falling off along with the scab. Do not be alarmed! This is also completely normal. Your skin is trying to heal the area just like it would a regular wound because let us face it, someone just cut into your face multiple times with a small blade. During days 9-10 of healing, your new brows might even appear to be completely gone. This is called the “ghosting stage” and is also normal. During the ghosting stage the skin underneath, the scabs might look light and ashy, but the pigment will start to return around days 11-28 when they are becoming fully healed. The most important thing is to not pick your scabs. Just let them fall off naturally. It is normal for your brows to fade 40-80% during the healing process. After 28 days, the skin will regenerate and the pigment that faded will push through again. You will not be able to see the true healed results until at least 4 weeks after your appointment when the skin is fully healed. Some areas may still appear patchy, and they may have faded more in some areas than others.

What are Combo brows? And how is that different or similar to microblading?

The combo brows technique uses a rotary tattoo machine that has a needle instead of a slanted hand-held blade like in microblading. Powder brows are done using small dots of pigment layered to create a more filled in soft powder effect. It can last longer that Microblading or Microshading. Anywhere from 1-3 years. It is the preferred method for oily skin and mature skin types. Microblading is for anyone wanting a more natural appearance to their brows. Saving time getting ready in the morning and just giving a nicer shape and color to their face. The hair strokes are done with a blade to mimic their hair texture depending on the size of the blade being used. The preferred method for dry skin types. Microshading is usually done alongside Microblading using a manual stippling technique to fill in the brows giving the illusion of a thicker middle area to the brow. Combination brow method is done using the Microblading technique in the front of the brow and a machine using the Powder technique for the rest. Giving the brow the appearance of a more filled in completed appearance.  What is the difference between tattoo and combo brows?

Both microblading and powder brows use a pigment instead of tattoo ink. Tattoo ink has more of an artificial look. However, to get the natural look with using pigment vs tattoo ink, you the longevity is shorter. But it provides a softer and more natural look. How are the different techniques similar?

They will all give the brows a better shape, cut down your time getting ready in the morning, and overall add more color to the face. All the techniques will need touch-ups and maintenance, and they are all created uniquely for every individual.

What is the healing and fading process like for all techniques?

With any type of semi-permanent brow technique, there will be a healing process. Every person’s situation is different based on the individual and how their particular body takes to the pigment depending on their bodies, age, lifestyle and so on. Usually, everyone will scab and shed the scab in the first week or so revealing the color underneath. It’s all normal, you just have to exercise patience and know the process is worth the wait.

How long does Microblading or Combo brows last?

Also, with that being said, the fading process also is unique depending on the individual. Some people will keep combo brows years without touch-ups, while others need regular 6 months to year touch-ups.
